Leica Photo Adventure: Coastal Maine | Oct 16-20, 2017
Join Leica Store Miami and Leica Camera for a photographic adventure along the Maine coast. We'll seek out iconic lighthouses, working harbors, fishing villages, rocky coastlines and more. This trip will be a great opportunity to get gallery quality images with the amazing Leica S, SL and M Systems, while we take you from one incredible shooting location to the next.
Leica Experts David Farkas and Peter Dooling from Leica Store Miami, along with S-System Specialist John Kreidler from Leica Camera will be on hand to give assistance and advice, as well as provide loaner Leica cameras and lenses. We’ll share our favorite tips and tricks to help you get the most out of this exceptional gear.
While other cameras are certainly allowed on this trip, the focus is on Leica camera systems and learning how to use them to their full potential. Current owners as well as those wanting to try Leica gear out for a week of real shooting are encouraged to attend.
Why this trip is different
This is not a workshop where you spend most of your daylight shooting hours sitting in a classroom. Why travel to some of the most beautiful and picturesque locations just to be stuck indoors? Instead, we will focus on making the most of each and every day to capture as many great photo opportunities as we can.
To balance out all this shooting and help you get the most out of your images, we will spend one afternoon showing you the secrets of processing Leica DNG files in Adobe Lightroom. Each participant will also receive one-on-one Lightroom instruction with his or her own images to see how much of a difference good post-processing technique can make in your photography.
What to Expect
This is primarily a photography trip, so expect to be shooting some days from before sunrise until after sunset. We will be covering a fair amount of ground each day by minivan, with many stops along the way to get out, explore and shoot. At each destination, there will be plenty of time to set up your tripod, compose your shots and get in some quality photography. The goal isn’t to rush off to the next stop, but rather take full advantage of each photo opportunity as it presents itself. In this regard, the schedule will be somewhat flexible. If everyone wants to stay in a location longer, we will.
All of the photo locations that we have scouted will require no more than 1/3 of a mile of easy hiking to get to. Most are right off the side of the road. The idea is that we’d rather spend more time shooting and less time getting to where we want to go.
If you want to extend your adventure, join us on our New Hampshire Fall Foliage Photo Adventure, which begins on October 12th.

Lodging and Base of Operations
The comfortable Residence Inn by Marriott in Portland, Maine will serve as our base of operations. Located in downtown Portland, we will make day trips up and down the coast. Each spacious and modern guest suite includes a full kitchen and living area.
Our mode of transport will be a caravan of minivans, rather than by tour bus. This will give us much more flexibility to traverse back roads and stop as we need to. And with just four or five passengers max per van we’ll have plenty of room for photo gear.
Plan to arrive at Residence Inn by Marriott in Portland, ME by 4:00 pm on Monday, October 16th. Shuttle service from the airport to our hotel will be provided. If you are joining us for the New Hampshire segment, you'll have nothing to worry about. We'll take care of getting you from North Conway, NH to the hotel in Portland.
To sign up for the photo adventure, call 305-921-4433, email us or checkout here on our website. We are happy to answer any questions you may have. Book now – space is limited.
Look forward to seeing you in Maine!
What past participants had to say about this trip
"This workshop was a terrific experience for me. I learned a great deal from many of the participants and especially from David Farkas and Josh Lehrer, our hosts from Leica Store Miami. One other positive was how well the outings were planned. We were on location before sunrise, just in time to photograph the morning light and lake mist. Our days were filled with photographic opportunities, not just of landscapes, but man-made structures as well. Of course we also had time for some wonderful food and conversation. It is a very appealing trip!"
- Chris M, Pennsylvania
"An awesome opportunity to immerse yourself in breathtaking photographic landscapes in the company of like-minded photographers. Stories, sunsets, sunrises, coastlines and lakes, not to mention the amazing pallet of fall colors are all part of this memorable workshop. Definitely a trip worth taking. Make sure you don't forget your Leica!"
- Oliver P, Guatemala
"The team worked constantly to keep things moving and with great success. Josh Lehrer was super resourceful, dedicated to the plan and extremely tolerant; good on you mate. David Farkas and John Kreidler from Leica were everything needed on a photo trip with Leica equipment, both very professional and really very friendly. On the road we were well stocked with battery charging, water, rations and personal radios which is a great idea. The meals on the road were always good and enjoyable. So well done all round Leica Miami."
- Tony H, Australia
