  The Vario-Elmar-R 70-210mm first started production in 1984. The optical system comprises of 12 elements in 9 groups. The optical design results in fewer elements and a slight increase in speed.  The lens is very short for its focal length.  A very large rubber-covered focus and zoom sleeve occupies well over half of the length of the lens.

The rubber on the focus and zoom ring is lightly faded. The push/pull of the focus and zoom is smooth when using. The aperture ring moves freely with positive detents. The glass is clear and scratch free. This lens has been service by DAG Camera. The work performed was to clean, lubricate, and clean all parts for proper working order.
