  • Saturday, September 23, 10:00 AM  |  Leica Lounge with Eli Farinango: Wilkay

Listen in as Leica Women Foto Project awardee Eli Farinango shares her winning project Wilkay, where she explores the vastness and beauty of the healing journey through her documentary photography, exploring the spaces to reclaim ancestral memory through image-making and collaborative processes.

Eli describes her project as "Wilkay is my personal narrative that speaks on the resiliency of the heart and spirit. I share my story of transforming and healing from the abuse I’ve experienced at different times in my life and the realities of being an indigenous woman in a patriarchal colonial society. In Kichwa, Wilkay means altar, and the process of creating this body of work is a ceremonial experience that weaves in my own spiritual practice, ancestral memory and my search for empowerment outside of the limitations placed on my body."

Saturday, September 23, 12:30 PM  |  Round Table Discussion: Self Portraiture & Photography as Healing

Join us at our showroom in Coral Gables for a Round Table Discussion with photographers Eli Farinango, María Martínez-Cañas, and Ashlyn McKibben.

These incredible women and accomplished photographers will discuss how photography can be used as form of healing and how they've incorporated self portraiture into their work to tell their own story.

Saturday, September 23, 4:30 – 7:30 PM  |  Women's Portrait Workshop Session with Ashlyn McKibben & Leica On Loan

Get inspired during this hands-on portrait workshop created by women, for women and femme identifying people, where we'll explore portraiture and self-portraiture and its importance in photography.

We’ll first sit down for an inspiration hour where we'll dissect the portrait and self-portrait discussing various topics and artists. Then, we’ll take a turn both behind and in front of the camera with a self-portrait session and a portrait session where we’ll partner up and photograph each other.

  • Sunday, September 24th, 11:00 AM  |  Brunch Ed. Leica Lounge with Greta Rico & Veronica Sanchis

Enjoy mimosas and small breakfast bites during this conversational Leica Lounge with Leica Women Foto Project Awardee Greta Rico and Foto Feminas Founder Veronica Sanchis. They'll discuss Greta's award-winning project Substitute Mother.

Inspired by the artist’s own family history, Mexican documentary photographer Greta Rico’s harrowing and illuminating project, Substitute Mother, tells the story of her cousin Siomara, who became a “Substitute Mother“ to her 3-year-old niece following her mother’s murder. This project shows how femicide does not end with murder, but has psychosocial impacts that cause trauma in orphan children, in mothers, sisters, grandmothers and aunts who become “Substitute Mothers“ due to violence.

Sunday, September 24th, 1:00 PM  |  Round Table Discussion: Women in the Photo Industry

Gather round as featured photographers and editors discuss the role of women in the photo industry and the challenges they face.

This converstational-style panel discussion will feature Maggie Steber, Greta Rico, Veronica Sanchis of Foto Feminas, Aldeide Delgado of WOPHA & more.

Sunday, September 24th, 3:00 PM  |  Photo Slam

Listen in as audience-submitted photos are critiqued by a panel of distinguished photographers including María Martínez-Cañas, Maggie Steber, Aldeide Delgado & more.

Stay tuned for instructions on how to submit your own image for review!
