The Leica M2 was manufactured between 1958-1967 (69/70 R version). This model was conceived as a less expensive alternative to the M3, but its range/viewfinder system became the basis for that of all future models.
A little history for the camera buffs. The Leica M2 was manufactured with some variations. Some of the earlier bodies had a push-button rewind release, later bodies had the lever. Some early bodies did not have a self-timer lever, but was added from S/N 1004151 on (known as M2-S in the U.S.A.).

This particular camera is clean and shows signs of normal use. The viewfinder window is clear and free from haze or fungus. The film compartment is very clean while the shutter curtain is in perfect condition. A recent CLA has been completed by Leica. The work performed was to repair friction, repair bayonet ring, repair seals, polish elements (some bubble damage from putty remains in field of rangefinder - this does not affect the performance of the camera), repair shutter (mechanism, brake and curtain), replace cladding, and to clean, lubricate and adjust all parts for proper working order. Overall, this camera is in excellent condition.
