• One of the first lenses to be issued with the original Leicaflex. It was a variant of the double Gauss design and totally different from the contemporary M-lenses.  It had five elements, with a cemented pair in front of the diaphragm. A second cam was added for the Leicaflex SL in 1968 and a third for the R3 in 1976. The lens hood was built-in and extendable. Can be fitted with electronics for Leica R8, but third cam necessary. 

  Second version:  New glasses and computer design enabled this lens to be thoroughly revised in 1983. It now has only four elements in a very compact mount. Later lenses have the third cam only for Leica R. Can be fitted with electronics for Leica R8.

The focusing ring moves very smoothly with nice drag. The aperture ring moves freely with positive detents. The glass is clear and free from dust, haze, fungus and scratches. Service has been completed recently by DAG Camera. The work performed was to clean, lubricate, and adjust all parts for proper working order.
