• When combining characteristics of the M2 and the M3 you get the M4.  The M4 was manufactured between 1967 and 1975.  This camera had some small changes, as compared to the M2 and M3, like film rewind is a foldaway crank, three-prong rapid loading take-up spool was built-in, new angle film rewind lever, and no guard around the lens release button. The viewfinder comes in the standard 0.72 crop with 35mm, 50mm, 90mm and 135mm frame lines. 

  "Messsucher", the "M" in the Leica M System, is a term describing the combination of rangefinder and viewfinder. True to the M legacy, the M4 maintains the form, control placement, and durability of its predecessors. Through a bright viewfinder the photographer can approach subjects with greater context and manual focusing flexibility.
