The Leica M1 was produced from 1959 to 1964. This camera was a simplified version of the Leica M2 and was intended for use with the Visoflex mirror reflex housing in particularly for scientific, medical, and copy work. The M1 was the first bayonet model to replace the Leica standard and the Ic, If, and Ig.
There were two iterations of this camera. The first build had a rewind release button, and the second build had a rewind lever (after serial number 966,730).
