• The tried and well-proven optical design of the 50mm lens provides for a perfection of picture quality extending all the way to the extreme corners of the image field even at full aperture, as well as outstanding contrast throughout, at all apertures, even at close distances. Stopping down to f/2.8 or f/4 brings only a minimal increase in contrast. Distortion is extremely low and practically invisible. Its well-balanced design makes this ideal standard lens an outstanding choice in terms of all criteria, including image quality, speed, size, and weight. The 50mm Summicron-M version IV was made between 1980-1994.  This particular lens was made in 1991.

  This particular lens has some marks on the body from normal use. The focusing ring moves very smoothly with nice drag. The aperture ring moves freely with positive detents. The glass is clear and free of haze, and fungus.

  This lens has been recently serviced by Leica. The work performed was to replace bayonet ring with 6-bit coded ring, and clean, lubricate, and adjust all parts for proper working order. Overall, this lens is in excellent working condition.
