  • Lightroom for Leica Boot Camp with John Latimer

Join Leica Store Miami and photographer/teacher John Latimer for an Adobe Lightroom for Leica Boot Camp in Miami, Florida from June 21-23, 2024. Adobe Lightroom is to the digital photographer what the dark room was to the analog photographer. But it's so much more than that! Lightroom is a way for photographers to manage, control and search their photo archive. Outside of our cameras, it is the photographer's most important tool and understanding this tool is vitally important.

During this weekend workshop we'll dive into Adobe Lightroom Classic from start to finish, giving you a complete overview of the software. The boot camp will be comprised of 4 three hour lectures as well as a one hour 1-on-1 session (Scheduled separately after the workshop) with John to address any topic you like.

Adobe Lightroom is a powerful tool in the photographer’s toolkit. Lightroom brings organization to our files and allows us to edit and manipulate our images. Adobe’s RAW conversion of Leica DNG files allows us to extract the most detail, tone, and color from each image. This workshop is designed to cover Lightroom both as an organizational tool and to teach you to control the creative editing of your images.

      Testimonials about John:

Here is what our customers are saying about John's 1-on-1 LR and PS sessions:

"Extremely well run, flexible, and insightful. John knows Lightroom inside and out and has a great way to communicate to simplify the concepts and make them easily applicable." - Rodrigo B.

"John takes you by the hand (through screen sharing) and does away with the stress of learning an indispensable program like Lightroom. Even for an old-school photographer like me! We began with the fundamentals of organizing files by key words, and how to categorize for easy access. I look forward to learning how to edit my images in future sessions." - Leslie S.

"Working with John Latimer, even for an hour, will have you rethinking that disorganized nightmare of a Lightroom catalog you have on your hard drive and determining a better path forward. Having used Lightroom since 2007 - and with a massive lack of discipline in organizing the thousands of photographs I’ve taken since then - I see working with John as a great step forward. He’s knowledgeable, straightforward and, given the investment I’ve made in photography, a bargain. He’s immediately become my indispensable partner in a needed overhaul of my Macs, hard drives and Lightroom catalogs." - John B.

"John's deep experience and customized approach has expanded my knowledge of Lightroom. His ability to work 1on 1 by remotely joining my computer has removed the mysteries of workflow techniques. John’s instruction has elevated my enjoyment of Lightroom. He is a great listener and challenges me to expand my personal workflow process. We currently meet weekly allowing me to practice my new acquired skills between sessions." - Steve B.

"While I have used Lightroom for 6 years, I desperately needed help to begin to organize things and John definitely gave me that help. We used Zoom so John could access my 27” iMac and I felt as if he was just sitting next to me walking me thru the process.  While I originally signed up for 1 hour we easily went into two hours.  I still need some hand holding on moving things from iCloud to LR, and I have not even gotten into how to actually use the program going forward. The net is I will need more lesson which I will gladly sign up for." - Tom F.

"My session with John was excellent. A one-to-one session enabled me to ask all my silly questions and overcome certain mental blocks I've encountered in using Lightroom.  John was very flexible, patient and clear in his explanations and instructions. The technology used to hold the session worked flawlessly and seeing how a 'pro' moved around the Lightroom interface and approached editing was very helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend working with John and I intend to do so again in the near future." - Steve B.

"John helped me to understand how to approach B&W work in Lightroom in a more disciplined way. Now, instead of flailing around, trying this and that, I have a procedure that I can go through with each image and then branch off that sequence as each image requires. Worth every dollar!!" - Richard B.

"I want to rave about the help I have received from John Latimer. I have taken Lightroom classes before, but still came away wanting. John has taught me about Lightroom in a way that has unleashed its power for me. From file organization to editing, John has transformed the way I think about using this tool. He is a knowledgeable and patient teacher. I will be forever grateful for his ongoing assistance and recommend him highly. Worth every penny, and then some." - Debra I.
