Join Leica Store Miami for a photographic adventure through Iceland’s Highlands and South Coast, timed to include the rare opportunity to photograph the August 12th solar eclipse (weather permitting!). Traveling in a rugged, modified 4x4 super-duty motor coach, we’ll venture deep into the remote Highlands and along the dramatic South Coast, experiencing the very best the land of ice and fire has to offer. From the colorful rhyolite mountains of Landmannalaugar and the otherworldly Valley of Tears to Skogafoss, Vatnajökull glacier, Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, Diamond Beach, and Stokksnes, this journey promises unforgettable moments at every turn.
Leica experts David Farkas and Colin McKinley, together with Icelandic photographer and guide Vincent Mazza, will be on hand to provide in-field guidance and inspiration as you capture Iceland’s iconic landscapes and, with luck, the solar eclipse itself.
While all camera systems are welcome, this tour is designed to help you get the most out of your Leica gear. Whether you’re a seasoned Leica photographer or curious to try one for the first time, you’ll benefit from practical instruction, favorite tips and tricks, and the chance to shoot with some of the best equipment in the world. Why this trip is different
This is not a workshop where you spend the daylight hours indoors. Instead, we’ll make the most of every opportunity to photograph Iceland’s incredible light and landscapes. Weather permitting, we’ll chase sunrises and sunsets, stay out late in search of the Northern Lights, and cover plenty of ground each day with frequent stops to explore and shoot.

Here we’ll be positioned in the path of totality to witness and capture the solar eclipse, which is scheduled to begin around 4:47 pm (weather permitting). Experiencing the solar eclipse against Iceland’s dramatic volcanic landscapes is sure to be one of the most unforgettable moments of the trip. After the eclipse, we’ll head inland toward the Highlands for three days of exploration and photography in Landmannalaugar, the Veidivotn crater lakes, and the Valley of Tears. This remote region offers some of Iceland’s most unique and colorful scenery, with rhyolite mountains, lava fields, waterfalls, and hidden hot springs. Highlights include:
