Introduced in 2009, the Leica M9 was the world’s first full-frame digital rangefinder camera and represented a major milestone in the evolution of the Leica M system. For the first time, photographers could use Leica M lenses on a digital camera with the same 35mm-format field of view they had enjoyed on film, while retaining the compact dimensions and traditional rangefinder experience of a classic M camera.

At the heart of the M9 is its 18-megapixel Kodak CCD sensor, which has become particularly prized for its distinctive color and rendering.
