• The updated version of the original A36-type lens has a new non-rotating mount which was introduced with the focusing scale on the barrel.  An included supplementary oculars (goggles), which came into place over the viewfinder and rangefinder windows when the lens was mounted on the M3, helped correct the camera's optics for the 35mm field of view.  These ocular attachments (goggles) are not removable.

  This lens came in two versions.  The first version was screw mount and made between 1949-1960. The second version was M-mount and made between 1954-1960.  Close focus for the different version are: screw mount 1m (40"), M2 0.7m (28") and M3 0.65 (26").

  This lens would be a great addition to your M system, if not to use on your M, but to have in your Leica collection. The lens and goggles are very clean. The lens shows signs of normal use. There are some scratches and scuffs around the lens barrel.  The drag is smooth with focusing.  The aperture has good feeling, positive detents.  The glass is clear and scratch free.

  The goggles are clean with normal wear patterns.  The glass in the goggles are lightly scratched and imperfections in the coating are present.

  This lens has had a recent CLA from Leica Cameras. The work performed was polish optics, degrease aperture blades, repair focus, and clean, lubricate, and adjust all parts for proper working order.
