The second version of Leica’s Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 enjoyed a remarkably long production run, spanning 1967 to 1995. Now commonly referred to as the “Pre-ASPH” version, it has become one of the most cherished and genuinely enjoyable lenses in Leica’s extensive back catalog. Its small size and light weight make it easy to include even in the most minimal M kit, and it renders with a character that’s beautiful, distinct, and timeless.

Produced in both Canada and Germany, it’s no surprise that the German-made versions are the most sought after. This particular example was built in 1988 and manufactured in Germany.

What truly sets this lens apart is its condition. The barrel shows almost no signs of use, and more importantly, the glass is jaw-droppingly clean. There is no haze, fungus, or cleaning marks, and nothing beyond the few tiny specks of dust you’d expect to find in virtually any lens, even a new one. This 35mm has been fully overhauled by DAG and is working flawlessly, with silky-smooth focusing and crisp, satisfying aperture ring click stops.

Included are the lens, rear lens cap, original push-on plastic front lens cap, Leica 12504 lens hood, Leica Series VII UVa filter, and a Leica leather lens case. The lens also carries a 6-month DAG warranty.
